Stairlift Options.

Stairlift Options can make using your Stairlift even easier.

Even if you don’t need them now, they may be something you could benefit from in the future. The stairlifts range offers features such as a powered swivel seat and powered folding footplate; these can make using a stairlift even easier by allowing you to operate these functions at the touch of a button rather than manually. Even if you don’t need them now, they may be something you will benefit from in the future. And battery back-up means they will still work in case of a power outage.

Options

The power hinged track option allows the track can be folded away from the doorway giving clear access.

Choosing a powered swivel option removes the need to you to operate the lever and turn the seat

You can also choose the powered footplate option that will remove the need to bend down to fold or unfold the footplate.

The illuminated footplate option illuminates the footplate is folded down, which makes it easy to see in the dark.

Our body harnesses option is specifically designed for the stairlift user who may require further stability when travelling up and down straight stairlifts.

If your staircase is compatible, a drop nose option track can be installed which means the track will finish closer to the stairs than with a standard finish

The active seat option  gently supports users while standing and sitting down.

Turn and Go  option has been specially developed to help those customers who have a very narrow curved staircase.

Similar to a powered hinge, the slide track option works automatically when the toggle or remote control is activated.

If you have restricted movement in the knee or hip joints you may find sitting painful. In these situations a perch seat option  may be the best solution for you.

Handicare powered hinged rail

Hinged Track

A Manual Hinge  track means you will need to raise and lower the end of the track manually. The hinge is designed to make manual operation as easy as possible.

Handicare Stairlifts can also be supplied with an Automatic Powered Hinge which means when operating the stairlift from the toggle, the hinge will lift/lower automatically. This removes the need to bend down when lifting or lowering the rail.

Powered swivel seat

When you arrive at the top of the stairs, you will need to swivel your seat around so that you exit onto the landing safely. All Handicare stairlifts come with a manual swivel that is operated from a handle located at either side of the seat.

Choosing a powered swivel option removes the need to you to operate the lever and turn the seat: simply continue to hold the toggle in the direction of travel when you arrive at the top of the rail and the seat will automatically turn to face the landing.

Powered footplate

In order to maximize free space, all Handicare stairlifts have seats, footplates and arms that are designed to be manually folded up out of the way when not in use, allowing clear access for other stair users.

You can also choose the powered footplate option that will remove the need to bend down to fold or unfold the footplate. You can choose to have a footplate that folds up automatically when the seat is also folded up, or choose a footplate that is operated separately from a switch on the arm so you can raise and lower the footplate while seated.

Illuminated footplate

Thanks to the powered and illuminated footplate, you no longer have to bend down to fold up the footplate. At the press of a button, the footplate automatically folds up or down whilst you remain seated. The footplate is also illuminated when it is folded down, which makes it easy to see in the dark. This means there is no danger of others tripping over the footplate at night or in low light conditions.

The powered and illuminated footplate is available for the Alliance, Elegance and Classic seats.

Handicare seat harness

Body harness

A Handicare Body Harnesses will be able to provide you with the necessary support. Our Body Harnesses are specifically designed for the stairlift user who may require further stability when travelling up and down straight stairlifts. The stairlift body harness, thanks to its contoured design, is, importantly, comfortable to wear with each harness featuring adjustable straps that will help tailor the body harness to your specific needs.

Available in three sizes, the stairlift body harness has been created to make using your stairlift the best experience it can possibly be, giving you and your loved ones peace of mind and security long into the future. Handicare stairlifts are designed with your safety in mind and with the added stability of the body harness, there can be no safer or more comfortable way to climb your home’s stairs.

Drop Nose

In some circumstances, our single  and twin tube curved track can offer an alternative to a hinged track. If your staircase is compatible, a drop nose track can be installed which means the track will finish closer to the stairs than with a standard finish thereby removing the need for a hinged track.

Turn & Go

Turn and Go has been specially developed to help those customers who have a very narrow curved staircase. Once seated, your seat will turn automatically so that your back faces the stairs, not the wall or handrail, during travel and thereby move your knees away from clashes with the wall or bannister. It can also be used to help those who have difficulty bending their knees to fit into the available stair width.

Slide Track

Available for the 950 model.

Similar to a powered hinge, the Slide Track works automatically when the toggle or remote control is activated.

A Slide Track is slightly shorter than the length of your staircase. When you start to travel up the staircase the track will move with you. The track will reach the top of your stairs before the stairlift, it will stop whilst your stairlift continues on its journey to the top where you can safely dismount. When you come downstairs the track will travel down with you so you can dismount safely at the bottom.

The Slide Track has safety sensors at both ends, these will stop the track if it encounters an obstacle during use. Your stairlift will continue to move towards the obstacle if desired where, if safe to do so, you can remove the obstruction and continue your journey. Alternatively the track and stairlift can be moved away from the obstruction.

Perched seat

If you have restricted movement in the knee or hip joints you may find sitting painful. In these situations a Perch seat may be the best solution for you.

A Perch seat means that the user is almost in a standing position when they are using the lift. There is a shortened seat (and retractable seat belt) which provides a stable support area for users to ‘perch’ on. This means that Perch Seats may also provide a solution for particularly narrow staircases where a user would not have room to travel in a seated position.

Upholstery is available in a choice of six colours. We  will be able to advise you which seat is most suited to your needs.
